| While on my honeymoon in south Louisiana, my wife and I two-stepped to the rollicking Cajun and Zydeco music at an Acadien Festival in Lafayette. I fell in love with the "Luzianne" combination of percussion, accordion, fiddle and guitar. The dream in my head playing this kind of music came alive after reuniting with my schoolmate, Al Maletta, one of the best accordion-keyboard musicians in Washington state. I wanted a guitar player and vocalist and "Uncle" Al suggested we include an old friend of his, Dave Burton, who not only sang great but played electric guitar and steel guitar, a rarity like the accordion. Dave added his repertoire of rhythm and blues tunes. After seeing his outstanding performance at a local festival, I met Jerry Wilkes, who not only plays fantastic fiddle and mandolin, but has a great voice. The whole Enchilada was finally completed when DeLyle Walters, known as the "Human Drum Machine" joined us. |
